Ingredients:
  • 1 packet of Kanaki phyllo pastry
  • 0.5kg walnuts
  • 0.75kg sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
  • 1 lemon
  • 300ml water
  • cloves
  • 100 ml. extra virgin „Theofilos” olive oil

Sposób przygotowania

Preparation:
Crush (in a mortar and pestle) or finely chop the nuts. Add some sugar (200g) and some cinnamon (2 tablespoons) and mix together thoroughly. Unfurl the pastry and spoon some of the nut mixture lengthwise in the shape of a narrow path onto a single sheet. Roll up the sheet so that the nuts are in the middle. Towards the end of the sheet place the next one (so that they overlap) and brush with melted butter. Place the rolls in an oiled baking tray. Cut the rolls crosswise with a sharp knife to make small pastries. Brush the pastries with butter. Bake for around 20 minutes at a temperature of 180 ¬¬oC. Meanwhile, prepare the syrup. Add the rest of the sugar and the lemon juice, together with the zest to the water. Bring to the boil. Add the remaining cinnamon and cook for around 10 minutes. Pour the hot syrup over the pastries and set aside to cool. Serve with vanilla ice-cream.
